On May 2nd, 2026, SHEATH hosted its first-ever 5K at OP Schnabel Park in San Antonio, Texas. By all accounts, the weather had tried to write a very different story.
The day before the race, San Antonio was hit with torrential rain, thunder, and lightning. The SHEATH team was biting our nails as the forecast looked like a possible swamp expedition. But by race morning, the skies had cleared, the trail was somehow mud-free, and the temperature sat at a perfect 55 degrees. Race-day magic.

Seventy-six runners showed up to take part in the inaugural SHEATH 5K, bringing energy, grit, and a whole lot of good vibes to the trail. The DJ, Matt, kept the music bumping, the runners kept the pace lively, and the atmosphere felt like exactly what SHEATH hoped it would be: a community event built around movement, connection, and showing up.
Cash prizes were awarded to the first three men and first three women to cross the finish line, adding a little extra fire to the friendly competition. And because SHEATH never does anything halfway, CEO Robert Patton flew in from Denver with his daughter Madison, who is also part of the SHEATH team, to run the race and celebrate alongside the community.

The event was organized by SHEATH’s own Steven: avid runner, master motivator, and certified team hype man. From the medals to the T-shirts to the full race-day experience, Steven helped bring the whole thing to life with the kind of energy that makes people want to sign up for the next one before they’ve even caught their breath.
And yes, there will be a next one!
After such a strong first turnout, SHEATH is already looking ahead to more community races, with another event anticipated this fall. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming Colorado and Texas 5Ks, 10Ks, and hopefully even a SHEATH marathon.

SHEATH is proud to have team members and community roots in both Colorado and Texas, and events like this are a reminder that the brand is about more than what we wear. It is about the people who push themselves, cheer each other on, and turn a stormy forecast into a perfect morning.
Thank you to everyone who came out, ran, supported, danced, cheered, and made the first-ever SHEATH 5K a success.
We will see you at the next starting line.
